  1. Hello Shinobi! I'd like to talk to you all about a topic that I've been hearing discussed more recently in the past few weeks: Staff and Player Interactions. I think one of the best parts about Shinobi Story are the interactions the players have with some of the Staff. Anyone who was in Konoha the other night with Giant Dan, roaring for Pizza w/ BBQ sauce, knows what I mean and had a great time! Most of us are in agreement that the game presented is amazing, and we all want the game to continue to grow and thrive. That being said, there are a few sore spots when it comes to Staff and Player Interactions, especially in regards to behavior. There are several elements to these interactions, but the core point is that there are players who are leaving the game or actively not supporting it due to these interactions with certain Staff. There are also players who actively avoid interacting with certain Staff, whether they are on their Staff character or not, due to the Staff acting identically. As a member of the player base, I (at least) think there should be a degree of separation from the Staff while also being able to interact in a positive manner. When Staff interactions are negative, it leaves the player at a disadvantage and can usually hurt the player's desire to continue playing or have interactions with that Staff member. While some of the Staff may be unintentionally hurting the player community, there are times when players are spoken to condescendingly, have their ideas shut down, or are actively griefed/mocked in global after by a member of the Staff. These actions directly hurt the health of the playerbase, in so far as I've said, there have players that have left, or stopped supporting, due to these negative actions taken by Staff. I understand that Staff are players, too, but they need to be held to a much higher standard in terms of behavior. A player can act in a certain way, whether it's griefing new players or acting disruptive in global, with few negative connotations outside of their reputation. Staff members are leaders in-game and representatives of the Shinobi Story team, even if said Staff member is on their "player character." There are certain staff members that players do not want to interactive with, because there is functionally no difference between how they act on their Staff character and on their player character. We are not speaking of character actions, but the actions of the person, the player, controlling the Staff and the player character. Similarly, if a player is providing a suggestion or feedback in the theorycrafting channel in Discord, Staff members should not immediately jump in to shut down prospective conversations with their beliefs (not game logic). These Staff members can explain they are only giving their opinion, but they have a big indicator that they are Staff, making their opinions feel more heavily weighed. I've spoken to several players about this, across many levels and Orgs, and we all agree that the game's toxicity is too high for the number of new members we are getting. Staff members should be separated from this toxicity in order for players to feel comfortable approaching. They should be Staff members first, players second. Please feel free to provide your own feedback, how you feel about the game, and your experiences with any of the above. Try not to kill me for providing a genuine, honest opinion about how to make the game better. I hope all of us want that. Best, Cel Edit: Realized I put Shinobis. Oof.
  2. I brought this up in the discord earlier, but has anyone thought of doing different subs on the cash shop? Obviously, they would have the EXACT same effect as the log sub, but this one would do something like water clone, or wood clone. For example, a water clone could be a blue humanoid figure that splashes a bit before despawning, with the same invis/speed as the regular sub. As they would be cosmetic only, they could be on the cash shop or in Koban boxes. I think there are a lot of options and could add some creativity/custom aspect to each shinobi. Thoughts? -Cel
